What obstacles did the
English settlers in the Chesapeake overcome?
According
to my understanding, it was expensive for them to pay the voyage to America.
Not only that but, the servants that the English got actually had a disease
among them and no mercy were showing to them at all. Plus, those sergeants were
guaranteed to be freed if they didn’t die. Of course the second reason was, to
expand their territories and get as much lands as possible. And to make sure that
native Indians shouldn’t get be the owners of any lands accept the English empire.
2- why does Winthrop
consider natural liberty dangerous?
Because he claimed that
an authority isn’t important, but he seemed very religious guy by saying that
his only authority comes from God only and anyone who disagree with the authority
of God he or she will be punished by God. Winthrop believes that there are two
kind of liberties. A natural liberty he describes the natural liberty as a
liberty to do evil as well as to do good. The other liberty he discusses was a
civil liberty as the proper end and object of authority
